First, we are so sorry that you have lost a loved one. A few options are available for getting help with burial or cremation.
Indigent Burial and Cremation. For information about eligibility, contact Eternity Funeral Homes and Crematory at (904)348-5579. Your loved one must have died in Duval County for this service.
Science Care. (800) 417-3747 There are some requirements, but the body is donated to scientific research. You will get cremated remains back. Most of the time there is no charge.
United Tissue Network. (877) 738-6111 UTN is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB). Their goal is to improve medical research and care. UTN covers the cost to remove the deceased's body from the place of their passing and transport it to one of their facilities. Once they are ready to release the remains back to the family, they fully cover the cost of cremation.
If your loved one served in the armed forces, consider using Veteran death benefits. There is no burial cost in one of Florida’s nine national cemeteries. This includes cremated remains. The benefits hotline number is 800-827-1000.
If you know of other options you'd like to share, email [email protected] with the information.
